I was once where you are...
Hi! I'm Sharon! I struggled with chronic stress and am a workaholic in recovery.
Currently, I help Christian professionals & leaders who are drained from working too much and desire to slow down, stress less and enjoy work-life harmony!
Mid-career I couldn't handle the guilt & anger of arguing with my husband anymore about my work schedule. I felt sluggish & frustrated from lack of sleep and worn down from the daily grind and strain of a demanding 24/7 work environment. The realization hit hard that I could not continue to sacrifice sleep and keep running on fumes - mainlining caffeine & sugar, popping aspirin & antacids like candy to get through the day. Yet, I was unsure how to make changes to my 70+ hour work week without jeopardizing job security, financial stability & professional success.
Sound familiar to your struggles?
I am here to help you avoid what happened next...
Stuck - I did nothing as I tried to figure out a solution besides more coffee, less sleep, and more activities! I continued to mentally push through all the physical warning signs as I tried to stay on top of everything at work and home. And then I ended up in the hospital - a stress-induced health crisis with blood pressure off the charts!
I was forced to find solutions as I got home from the hospital. Thus started my journey to find greater work-life balance and reduce stress.
It is challenging to make sustainable changes to recover to good health and balance when you have no time and no energy. I thought a job change would solve it, but that didn’t! Within a couple of years, I found myself falling back into the same patterns again of being driven by caffeine & adrenaline, as I took on excessive hours of work.
Help you avoid years of trial & error
Over the years many techniques like yoga, meditation, mindfulness, different diet strategies, supplements, protecting family time, and filling every spare moment with whatever the latest home improvement, cooking skill, jewelry project, or book helped to keep another health and relationship crisis at bay. Admittedly, there were close calls over the years.
(From what I've learned, you don't need to do all those things that was just my testing and trialing of all sorts of solutions.)
Through all of this, I continued to excel in my career and achieve my goal of being an operations executive in a global health and wellness organization. Yet, none of my attempts to maintain work-life balance and manage my stress felt easy to sustain.
Finding key to work-life balance
Hint: It's not about balance! Nor is it about willpower!
Once I re-established my relationship with God & Christ – it became less of an active balancing act and more about finding harmony. With greater commitments to faith, I started transforming the beliefs that fueled my tendency to overwork and identify more with what I did than who I am. This was the missing piece!
Finding work-life harmony, eventually led me to get off the blood pressure & migraine medications because I was able to stick with my strategies. Faith gives me perspective on what is important in this lifetime and the courage to do the hard things – like sticking to boundaries!
Simple strategies work
What this has taught me is that you don't need to overload your schedule to crowd out work or to learn all sorts of Eastern spirituality techniques. This is part of what makes working with me unique from other stress reduction programs.
- After all the years of painful lessons of being a reformed adrenaline junkie that got high from tight deadlines, delivering against improbable requests & overachievement, I know that there are alternative ways of working.
- From mentoring many leaders over the years, I am familiar with a multitude of approaches that can result in similar contributions & results at work with less burnout and isolation.
- To address your worries about how to navigate the challenges at work as you shift your priorities, I can mentor and help you identify strategies to be productive and perceived as a valued contributor, even as you work fewer hours.
- As we work on how you prioritize time & energy, I encourage you to free up a daily moment (even if it is only a 30 second breath prayer or statement of gratitude) for you to improve your connection with God. His support & strength enable you to be and do more than you thought possible. He’ll renew your mind and accelerate the transformation of your life.
- This is not a cookie-cutter approach. Since you are bio-individual – truly unique and wonderfully made - only you and God know what will be the right solutions for you to achieve work-life harmony & how to better cope with stress. I help guide you to a strategy and approach that works for you!
Blessed to be able to serve
Having accomplished what I wanted in the corporate world, I am called to serve and support you to find greater work-life harmony and reduce stress. (Working with me, your journey of stress recovery should be smoother than mine.)
To support my transition from mentoring at work to Christian coaching, I hold a certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and several from Light University in a variety of Christian Mental Health & Life Coaching topics. (In my spare time, I continue to advance my studies related to Life Recovery and am volunteering with a Christian 12 Step Recovery Program.)
Living with greater harmony is possible
Even as a solopreneur, I have found a work-life harmony that works for me! (I know you can too!)
My husband, our terribly busy terriers, and I work & do a lot – but I’ve figured out how to ensure work is not interfering with our relationship. As God grows me with stresses and challenges, I am better able to deal with them without getting wound up tight or becoming horribly sharp and irritable to those around me.
I am so grateful to Him (and proud of myself) that I can slow down to enjoy the wildflowers at sunrise, dance in the kitchen, or be fun and silly as we grill and the pups sniff around.
Wishing you the best ...
I look forward to (virtually) meeting you and seeing how I can be of service!
Blessings to you and your loved ones!
